Family Worship Guide: Week of December 19th, 2021

Joey Tomlinson   -

*Parents, this week we are going to look at some passages that support our catechisms. – Pastor Joey

Memory Verse: John 1:1: In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.

Catechism Question 12: Does God know all things? Answer: Yes, nothing can be hidden from God.

Catechism Question 13: Can God do all things? Answer: Yes, God can do all His holy will.

Monday

Scripture:  Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure. (Psalm 147:5)

Point of focus: In today’s passage we have the psalmist singing to our great God about God’s plentiful power and His unmeasurable understanding. Spend time talking about how God can do anything because He is all-powerful and how there is no tape measure long enough to measure God’s understanding because He knows (and understands) all things.

Pray

Sing: In Christ Alone

Tuesday

Scripture:   Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure. (Psalm 147:5)

Point of focus: As we journey through life, we may get scared, nervous, or anxious. One thing that we need to always remember is that God is great, He is stronger than anything (including your biggest fear), and He understands us and our situations better than we understand ourselves.

Pray

Sing: In Christ Alone

Wednesday

Scripture:  Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. (Psalm 139:4)

Point of focus: God knows what you are going to say before you even speak it! This should motivate us to never try and hide our thoughts, feelings, or concerns from God. We should eagerly take anything to Him in prayer at any time and in any place.

Pray

Sing: In Christ Alone

Thursday

Scripture: 10  declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’ (Isaiah 46:10)

Point of focus: God has ordained everything to happen. This means that nothing is outside of God’s control. No matter how chaotic things may seem, God is in control. No matter how people might scheme, it is the Lord’s will that stands. When we think about this we need to also remember that God is good. And He demonstrated just how good He is by sending Jesus to save us from the penalty of our sins. God’s will is that you may know Christ, have your sins forgiven, and be with Him forever.

Pray

Sing: In Christ Alone

Friday

Scripture: And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account. (Hebrews 4:13)

Point of focus: There is nowhere we can go out of sight from God. And as we’ve seen this week, this is good because God is good. But we must also know that God is holy. This means that God is without sin and that He cannot be in the presence of sin. The problem is that we have sinned and we will give an account to Him and have our sins exposed. What can we do? The only thing we can do is look to Christ as our Savior. If you put your trust in Jesus (who is truly God, truly man, and never sinned), you can have your sins forgiven. So one day, when you stand before God, you will give an account for the perfection of Jesus, not your sins.

Pray

Sing: In Christ Alone

Saturday

Scripture: But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. (Matthew 10:30)

Point of focus: God cares about you so much that He knows all the hairs on your head. He knows this because He created you and is intimately involved in your life.

Pray

Sing: In Christ Alone
