Memory Verse: John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only so that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life”.

Catechism Question: How can you glorify God? Answer: By loving Him and doing what He commands.

Scripture for the Week: 1 Corinthians 10:23-11:1: 23 “All things are lawful,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up. 24 Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.

25 Eat whatever is sold in the meat market without raising any question on the ground of conscience. 26 For “the earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof.” 27 If one of the unbelievers invites you to dinner and you are disposed to go, eat whatever is set before you without raising any question on the ground of conscience. 28 But if someone says to you, “This has been offered in sacrifice,” then do not eat it, for the sake of the one who informed you, and for the sake of conscience— 29 I do not mean your conscience, but his. For why should my liberty be determined by someone else’s conscience? 30 If I partake with thankfulness, why am I denounced because of that for which I give thanks?

31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 32 Give no offense to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God, 33 just as I try to please everyone in everything I do, not seeking my own advantage, but that of many, that they may be saved.

11 Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.

Monday

Scripture: 23 “All things are lawful,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up. 24 Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.

Point of Focus: As Christians, we should have a warm heart for doing those things which build and strengthen God’s Kingdom. The glory of God should be the focal point for all things in our lives and when it is, His church is built up.

Tuesday

Scripture: 25 Eat whatever is sold in the meat market without raising any question on the ground of conscience. 26 For “the earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof.”

Point of Focus: The earth belongs to the Lord and nothing in all of God’s creation is unclean. Therefore when we eat, we eat knowing that God owns everything and that what He has given us (even our very food) is given by Him for us to enjoy and steward well.

Pray

Sing: Christ our Hope in Life and Death

Wednesday

Scripture:27 If one of the unbelievers invites you to dinner and you are disposed to go, eat whatever is set before you without raising any question on the ground of conscience.

Point of Focus: We should never allow the issue of conscience to hinder our fellowship and hospitality with other believers. Paul teaches us here that those weak in faith should grow up in maturity by having their conscience strengthened by His Word.

Pray

Sing: Christ our Hope in Life and Death

Thursday

Scripture: 28 But if someone says to you, “This has been offered in sacrifice,” then do not eat it, for the sake of the one who informed you, and for the sake of conscience—

Point of Focus: Today’s passage is about loving other people –particularly new Christians well. We should never force our liberties (the things God said we are free to do or the things which God has not forbidden) on other people when those people think that they would be sinning to do those things. Instead, in love, we should suspend our rights for the sake of the other person.

Sing: Christ our Hope in Life and Death

Friday

Scripture: 29 I do not mean your conscience, but his. For why should my liberty be determined by someone else’s conscience? 30 If I partake with thankfulness, why am I denounced because of that for which I give thanks?

Point of Focus: In all things, we should receive God’s good gifts with thankfulness and we should not allow someone’s conscience to control our conscience. Our conscience should be informed by God’s Word.

Sing: Christ our Hope in Life and Death

Saturday

Scripture: 31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 32 Give no offense to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God, 33 just as I try to please everyone in everything I do, not seeking my own advantage, but that of many, that they may be saved.

11 Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.

Point of Focus: No matter what we do, we are to seek to glorify God. And when we seek to glorify God, we will stike the right balance in how we love and serve other people.

Pray
