Joey Tomlinson   -

Memory Verse: Ephesians 6:1- “Children, obey your parents in the Lord for this is right.”

Catechism Question 10: Where is God? Answer: God is Everywhere

Catechism Question 11: Can you see God? Answer: No, I cannot see God, but He always sees me.

Monday

Scripture: 1 Timothy 2:5-7  For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

Point of Focus: (v5) There are two things that we do in response to the truth in scripture, repent and believe. We confess our sins to God and we confess the truth that God has given to us. Paul makes a confession in verses 5-6 that we must both publicly and privately confess.

Scripture: For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

Point of Focus: (v5-6) The truth is inherently exclusive. Since the gospel is true, the gospel is exclusive. Those who do not believe in Christ for the forgiveness of their sins are excluded from salvation and will experience eternal suffering in hell under the wrath of God.

Pray for those in your life that do not believe in Christ Jesus as Lord

Scripture:For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

Point of Focus: (v6) Jesus gave himself as a ransom. He paid the price for our redemption with his own blood. Jesus was the perfect mediator who offered himself as a subsititionary sacrifice on the cross, bearing the full wrath of God for our sins. Praise God for what he did so we might have eternal life in him.

Point of Focus: (v6) Jesus gave himself as a ransom for all. This means anyone can come to Jesus. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you have done, salvation is a free gift of God’s grace given to all kinds of people. There is nothing that we have to do or be in order to receive this gift. Although not every single person is saved by Christ, all who he died for will come to him.

Point of Focus: (v7) The apostle Paul was appointed by Jesus to preach the good news of the gospel to the Gentiles. He was to welcome those who were once excluded from the covenant promises God made to Israel into the Kingdom of God. This unique aspect of redemptive history gives us evidence that Jesus does not discriminate in who he saves. The gospel is inclusive of every tribe, tongue, and nation.

Saturday

Scripture: For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

Point of Focus: The church in Ephesus was dealing with relational conflict, specifically ethnic tensions. In writing about his own ministry to the gentiles, the apostle Paul is reminding the church that since Jesus did not discriminate in saving the sinful Gentiles, we should not discriminate in the way we pray and the way we share the gospel.

Pray for opportunities to share the gospel and a willing heart to share the gospel when the time comes.
