Monday

Scripture: 1 Timothy 1:5-7

The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Certain persons, by swerving from these, have wandered away into vain discussion, desiring to be teachers of the law, without understanding either what they are saying or the things about which they make confident assertions. (ESV)

Point of Focus: It is Christ who has told us to love God and love our neighbor. Therefore, we are to love in a way that honors Him.

Pray

Sing: Psalm 150

Tuesday

Scripture: 1 Timothy 1:5-7

The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Certain persons, by swerving from these, have wandered away into vain discussion, desiring to be teachers of the law, without understanding either what they are saying or the things about which they make confident assertions. (ESV)

Point of Focus: It is important that we get our ordering of love. So as a family, read through the 10 commandments in Exodus 20 knowing that this is where God summarized His enduring moral Law. The first table (as it is commonly known) consists of the first four commandments and deals with our relationship with God. That should be the main priority of our lives. The second table consists of the back six commandments and deals with our relationship with our neighbors. We should love God first, and our love of God will overflow into our love of neighbor.

Pray

Sing: Psalm 150

Wednesday

Scripture: 1 Timothy 1:5-7

The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Certain persons, by swerving from these, have wandered away into vain discussion, desiring to be teachers of the law, without understanding either what they are saying or the things about which they make confident assertions. (ESV)

Point of Focus: One of the things that love flows from is a pure heart. As Christians, we know that apart from Christ our heart is unclean and deceitful (Jer. 17:9). But in Christ, our hearts are washed pure. If you want a pure heart, confess your sins to God and trust in Jesus as your Savior and Redeemer.

Pray

Sing: Psalm 150

Thursday

Scripture:  1 Timothy 1:5-7

The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Certain persons, by swerving from these, have wandered away into vain discussion, desiring to be teachers of the law, without understanding either what they are saying or the things about which they make confident assertions. (ESV)

Point of Focus: Another thing that love flows from is a good conscience. One of the enemies of a good conscience is unconfessed sin. If you find yourself struggling with guilt and doubt, it may be because you need to confess particular sins, repent of those sins, and trust in Jesus.

Pray

Sing: Psalm 150

Friday

Scripture: 1 Timothy 1:5-7

The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Certain persons, by swerving from these, have wandered away into vain discussion, desiring to be teachers of the law, without understanding either what they are saying or the things about which they make confident assertions. (ESV)

Point of Focus: Another enemy of a good conscience is the Accuser who is the devil (Rev. 12:10). Many times the Accuser tries to condemn us for those things which God in Christ has forgiven us for. But we must remember, that we are forgiven in Jesus Christ. Christ paid the penalty for our sins.

Pray

Sing: Psalm 150

Saturday

Scripture: 1 Timothy 1:5-7

The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Certain persons, by swerving from these, have wandered away into vain discussion, desiring to be teachers of the law, without understanding either what they are saying or the things about which they make confident assertions. (ESV)

Point of Focus: The final thing we see love flow from is sincere faith. This type of faith is one without hypocrisy. On this side of eternity we will always wrestle with being hypocritical, but we should cooperate with the Spirit of God living in us to live according to our faith. Ultimately, we know that sincere faith in Jesus is a gift from God (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Pray

Sing: Psalm 150
