Scripture for the week: 1 Timothy 1:1-2
Monday
Scripture: 1 Timothy 1:1-2
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope,
2 To Timothy, my true child in the faith:
Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
Point of Focus: Paul was an apostle. An apostle was someone that saw Jesus resurrected and was appointed by Jesus to help establish His church. Apostles and Prophets under the inspiration of the Spirit were the writers of the Bible. We should listen to the apostles in Scripture. God spoke through them.
Pray
Sing: Psalm 150
Tuesday
Scripture: 1 Timothy 1:1-2
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope,
2 To Timothy, my true child in the faith:
Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
Point of Focus: God is our Savior and He loves to save His people from their sin and make them His sons and daughters. Today, remember that God is good and God is our Savior.
Pray
Sing: Psalm 150
Wednesday
Scripture: 1 Timothy 1:1-2
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope,
2 To Timothy, my true child in the faith:
Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
Point of Focus: Jesus is our hope. When we doubt our salvation or when we doubt the goodness of God, we only need to look to Jesus who died for us to remind us that we are eternally safe in Him. Jesus Christ is our hope.
Pray
Sing: Psalm 150
Thursday
Scripture: 1 Timothy 1:1-2
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope,
2 To Timothy, my true child in the faith:
Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
Point of Focus: Timothy was Paul’s disciple. Paul explained to Timothy how all of the Old Testament was about Jesus coming to save us. This made sense to Timothy because from a young age Timothy’s family raised Him to know and love God. Knowing and loving God from a young age is a precious gift.
Pray
Sing: Psalm 150
Friday
Scripture: 1 Timothy 1:1-2
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope,
2 To Timothy, my true child in the faith:
Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
Point of Focus: Grace and mercy are gifts solely from God. Grace is undeserved favor and blessing from God. Mercy is God not giving us what we deserve (which is wrath and punishment). In Christ and by the power of the Spirit God is the giver of both grace and mercy.
Pray
Sing: Psalm 150
Saturday
Scripture: 1 Timothy 1:1-2
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope,
2 To Timothy, my true child in the faith:
Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
Point of Focus: Peace is another gift from God. Nowadays many people seek for some so-called peace, but all we seem to see is conflict and stife. The only way toward peace is through Christ Jesus who is Himself our peace.
Pray
Sing: Psalm 150
