Scripture for the Week: Matthew 28:18-20:

18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Monday

Scripture: 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Point of Focus: Jesus has all authority over things unseen (like heaven) and over things that are seen (like the earth). Nothing is out of His sovereign rule and control and this is good because Jesus is a good King.

Tuesday

Scripture: 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Point of Focus: Matthew 28:18-20 is about the Great Commission. The Great Commission is only possible because Jesus has all authority. Therefore, when we tell people about Jesus, we can be confident that God is using our faithfulness to build His kingdom on earth.

Sing: Reformation Song

Wednesday

Scripture: 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations

Point of Focus: God has called his church to make disciples everywhere. This is another way of saying we are to tell people that Jesus is Lord. This can start by telling our friends, relatives, and neighbors about Jesus and connecting them to our local church.

Pray

Sing: Reformation Song

Thursday

Scripture: baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

Point of Focus: Disciples of Jesus should be connected to the local church. Their first step of obedience is to be baptized into the community of faith. Baptism represents our union with Jesus and our union with other Christians. Baptism should happen in the presence of your local church.

Sing: Reformation Song

Friday

Scripture: 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.

Point of Focus: The Great Commission is not accomplished until all God’s disciples everywhere in the world are taught to obey all that Jesus has commanded. This is one of the reasons why local churches are throughout the world are so important. God uses the faithful weekly preaching of his word to teach believers all about what Jesus commands.

Pray

Sing: Reformation Song

Saturday

Scripture: And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Point of Focus: We have no reason to be discouraged as we seek to honor Jesus by fulfilling the Great Commission because Jesus promises to be with us spiritually no matter what.
